Fingernail Display Watch

A number of fancy watches have been displayed on the pages of Gadget Guruz. Usually they are binary type watches from Tokyo Flash, or ultra expensive watches. This latest watch is a concept idea that embeds on your fingernail. The TX54 is translucent and sits on the surface of your fingernail and displays the time in a range of 3 or 4 colours. The time is only displayed when the device is active and at all other times the watch blends right in to your fingernail so it appears to not even be there. At the edge of the nail can be found a thumb control allowing you to switch between modes on the watch. Although the features of this watch are basic in that it does time and date only, I think it would be cool to have an actual OLED type display there so you can flick through thumbnail’s of images literally on your thumbnail.

The TX54 was designed for a competition which Timex and Core77 are running. The competition commemorates 150 years of timex watches.

Powered by electrodes immersed in water that extract energy from compound particles, this thirsty clock won't be available until Augst 15, 2008.

Timex iPod Remote Control - The Ironman

The Ironman iControl is an iPod remote control which connects direct you various iPod’s and the iPhone (We assume the iPod Touch also). It allows you to control your iPod while running with out having to move your head to look at the iPod on your arm. It works by plugging in a small wireless device in to the iPod which then allows it to be controlled by the watch. Nice idea!

Ironman iControl Compatibility:

* iPod 5th generation (video)
* iPod Nano 2nd generation (aluminium) 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB
* iPod 5th generation (video) 60GB and 80GB

M60M Concept Watch

The M60M is a concept watch which was designed by Roger Kellenberger. It tells the time in a different way to the more conventional watch. Rather then using hands, a rotating disc shows the time in hours and quarters. The clock face is a ring with a hole in the middle. It does look quite cool although like the TokyoFlash style watches, they are not too practical.

TimeFlex - Stick on Watch Concept

TimeFlex is a unique concept idea which uses a “self-gumming” sticker like watch which can stick on to any surface such as your hand, arm or clothing. The idea behind it is that sometimes you need a watch on you but it’s not always a good time to do so, such as when swimming. This watch could literally be stuck to your wrist or swimwear and not create any drag.

It’s not a concept I expect to see happen too soon though.

Tag Heuer's Cellphone is a Watch Phone?

The announcement earlier this week that Tag Heuer was designing a luxury cellphone didn't inspire shock as much as a raised eyebrow, but Biggs the watch fetishist over at Crunchgear dug through his old archives and found this rendering. Dated January 18, Dialaphone.uk found these renders of a possible Tag Heuer cellphone watch that's both classy and able to call people. Whether this is the actual Tag Heuer phone is uncertain and unlikely, but we'd actually really love a cellphone watch that doesn't look like something we'd wear in the third grade.

Retro Flip Down Clock

A lot of retro type gear is being re created in a more modern way. However, this retro flip down clock retains most of it’s retro-ness by by using actual flip down mechanism. It is powered by a 9V battery and the minutes flip down every 60 seconds (no surprise there)

Nike+ Amp iPod Watch

The Nike+ Amp is a watch from Nike which you use with your Nike+ iPod running kit. The watch allows you to get instant progress on your running distance, time, speed or calories burned.

It also works as a regular watch, with a durable polyurethane strap and LED’s whch tell the time in regular mode or display the iPod Nano’s controls when being used in Nike+ mode.

The watch is reasonably priced too at $80, which I think is good since it can be used as a regular watch too! It’s currently only available in USA, but hopefully it’ll be released in Europe soon.

Japanese WiFi Train Clock

biggerstationclock.jpg
People say the Japanese public transit system is fantastic, and it's stuff like this Japan Railways Wi-Fi clock that makes it so. This clock shows you exactly which stop your train is at, so you can plan ahead to see how long it will take for it to reach your stop. Best of all it's Wi-Fi enabled, which means you get live updates when your train happens to be late. If they sold one of these for the BART here, well, you'd probably get a letter from your internet provider about using too many resources.

The Decider Watch Carries Infinite Wisdom on Your Wrist

decider_watch_front.jpg

Instead of just flipping a coin, let The Decider watch make the call, giving you a yes or no answer to any question. Wow, it's like having George W. Bush, the best doggone decider of them all, right there on your wrist 24/7. Just make a snap judgment with a quick glance at this $161 watch from Mr. Jones Watches, and you're on your way to achieving world peace and guaranteeing safety from those pesky evildoers.

The Decider

If you want a more permanent and definitive answer to any quandary, pull on the watch's winding crown, freezing in a yes or no position and leaving little room for doubt. It's quick, easy, and requires very little thought.

The timepiece's only downside is that it's available only in a limited edition of just 100 watches, and it looks like they're going fast. Mr. Jones should manufacture lots more of these, because we're going to be needing them as soon as we lose our Decider, which could happen sooner rather than later. But who knows, maybe a watch like this is behind his celebrated decision-making technique, so the next Decider can wear one too!

Catapult Watch

“The only watch that’s also a weapon- it shoots BBs, dried peas, popcorn kernels, lentils and more up to 8 feet accross the room! This stainless steel watch will be the envy of the classroom or the meeting room. Use it to “wake-up” those sleepy headed co-workers and classmates. When they look around to see who’s been pelting them with spitballs, you’ll just be casually checking the time.”
