March 14: iPhone’s next destination is Ireland

After capturing the US, UK, Germany and France markets, iPhone’s next destination is Ireland. O2 will be the network operator to carry the iPhones there.
O2 has confirmed that it will start selling the iPhones in Ireland from March 14. The 8GB iPhone can be bought at €399 while the 16GB model will be available at €499. O2 is all set to launch the revolutionary device and has announced new tariff plans.
The €45, €65, and €100 per month tariffs are the newly launched plans for welcoming the iPhone. However users have a restriction on data download at a maximum of 1GB. Excess downloading will be charged 2cents per MB.
It was a little surprising for experts to see the iPhone in Ireland before Australia. However law researchers based in Queensland said that it would be illegal to launch the iPhone in Australia.
Researchers say that Apple has a tendency to sign exclusive deals with one carrier and that might cause legal trouble for the iPhone-maker in Australia. However as of now there is no word from Apple regarding the iPhone’s launch in the smallest continent.
As of now, the Irish seem to be luckier to have the iPhones in their stores.
